Ogonna Nnamani On Resisting Hazing

Volleyball player Ogonna Nnamani is a former U.S. National Team Member and Olympic Silver Medalist. She was the Gatorade National Player of the Year and then led the Stanford University team to two NCAA National Championships.

In this brief video, Nnamani describes a situation in which she resisted being hazed. She emphasizes the importance of young athletes feeling empowered to make their own decisions about participating in initiation rituals. Athletes who feel uncomfortable with situations, such as drinking alcohol or submitting to a humiliating experience must exercise the courage to opt out, which may earn more respect from teammates.
