Marc Trestman On Preventing Hazing
NFL Coach Marc Trestman is a PCA National Advisory Board Member. Trestman has 28 years of coaching experience in the NFL, Canadian Football League and collegiately. He is also the author of Perseverance: Life Lessons on Leadership and Teamwork.
Taken from an interview prepared exclusively for PCA, Trestman shares his approach to preventing hazing in this video clip. He believes the best way to prevent hazing is to take the time to explain what hazing is and how it can negatively affect a team. He talks about past instances of one player being treated as less than another, and how such behavior has no place in his locker room. Some players resist his stance, feeling entitled to haze based on their own previous experiences, but Trestman does his best, early and often, to clearly explain why hazing is detrimental.
