Andy Stankiewicz (@turntwo17) is the Head Baseball Coach for Grand Canyon University in Arizona. Before becoming a coach, Stankiewicz played Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Montreal Expos and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In this video, shot at a PCA-Phoenix event that also included Diamondbacks Manager Chip Hale and Arizona State University Manager Tracy Smith (@ASUSkip), Stankiewicz discusses the desire many Major Leaguers have to transition into coaching once their playing careers come to an end.

Emphasizing the difficulty of being recruited into the professional level, Stankiewicz explains that it is every coach’s job to get his or her players prepared for life. Coaching, he says, is an opportunity to impact young lives.
