Lon Babby, a PCA-Phoenix Board Member, is a Senior Advisor for the Phoenix Suns (@Suns). He is best known for his time as an NBA agent for some of the game's most respected sportsmen: Tim Duncan, Shane Battier, Ray Allen and others. He also spent over 35 years as an attorney, starting with the Washington Redskins, and is known today as one of the 100 most powerful people in sports.

When establishing team culture at any level in sports, from youth to the pro level, Babby suggests athletes, coaches and leaders focus on the 5 P's:

Preparation- Work tirelessly to ensure you are ready to perform and support your teammates performance.

Poise- Stay calm and make good choices on and off the court.

Pride- Maintain pride in yourself, your family, and all those around you.

Perseverance- When something gets difficult, have the stick-to-itiveness to keep going.

Performance- Athletes perform at their best when they follow the first four P's: good performance should follow naturally.

While there are different challenges in youth and pro sports, Babby argues that these cultural values transcend age and profession and are effective at any level. The several lesson learned in youth sports, such as tank filling and team culture, can work at every level of the game.
