Let Kids Learn Sports By Watching, Rather Than Detailed Explanations

Matt Kata(@MattK8A) is a former Major League Baseball player and the Cleveland Guardians Manager of Youth Baseball Development & Initiatives. Kata graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio.

Kata talks about using imitation to teach younger athletes. Sometimes it can be the best teacher for young athletes. At this age, coaches have tendencies to get too technical, which can be ineffective if the kids do not understand the corrections. Instead, having them mimic a professional can really expedite and simplify the process. The encouragement of watching the sport can also help them understand the game better and get more excited to play it.
