The Importance Of Taking Time Off When You're Injured

Rachael Flatt is a retired American figure skater and current student at Stanford University. She is the 2010 U.S. national champion, 2008, 2009 and 2011 national silver medalist, and 2008 World Junior Champion. At the 2010 Winter Olympics she placed 7th.

In this clip, Flatt shares the frustrations of dealing with injuries. She was fairly consistently injured throughout the last few years of her career, which was difficult to deal with because she always wanted to train. Sometimes she would push her rehab or get back on the ice too soon, which would cause injuries to reoccur. This taught Flatt how crucial it is to take time off and heal completely when injured. It also taught her to lean on her family and friends to help get her through these tough times.
