Chris Collins On Letting His Kids' Coaches Coach

Chris Collins (@coach_collins) is the Head Basketball Coach at Northwestern University. Before arriving, Collins spent 13 years as an assistant coach for Duke University, where he had starred as a player. He also worked closely with the USA Men's Basketball teams that won Olympic Gold Medals in 2008 and 2012.

Collins' father, Doug, was a collegiate, Olympic and pro basketball star as a player and later an NBA coach (now broadcaster). In that context, Chris says, "In my journey through youth sports, my parents let the coaches be the coaches. I go to my kids' games and be a dad, not a coach. I support and cheer and encourage. I allow the coaches to be the coaches. this helps my kids enjoy the experience more."
