Team tryouts at a typical youth sports organizations often simply help the organization leaders form teams. They may be termed "skills assessments" to help ease the nerves of children and parents new to youth sports. With those ideas in mind, this resource expands on a few of these pointers:

1.) Consider the best way to refer to “tryouts”.

2.) Introduce the tryout procedures to all players and parents assembled at once.

3.) Do your best to be perceived as treating the players equally.

4.) Make the tryout procedure as simple as possible.

5.) Clearly explain the process that occurs at each station.

6.) Reassemble to explain what’s next.
